The Mothers of Love - Until The Dawn
When I was in school, I'd go see him whenever I could in Chicago at various blues clubs. Always mesmerizing. I once got up the courage during a break to introduce myself to him & tell him he was the greatest bluesman of all. He took my hand, kissed it and said, "thank you, little lady." I floated out of the club that night on a cloud of joy.
Just a special songwriter. The more I learn about this man, the more I'm amazed
😊😊😊
❤❤❤
God I just love this song
I saw you in St. Paul Minnesota I know you’re dear but I love you
So this is the first take? I have a different version on my CD.
Who is the men that is talking at the beggining of the video?
Fantastic
Even though often painfully difficult, what a rich tradition America has led thanks to men like him. ❤
Wow. Words to live by always ❤
from Vicksburg Mississippi yall
What a great song, and what a great baritone voice.
I met his wife before she passed away at the blues fest here in chicago Mrs Marie Dixon was a very down to earth lady and a sweetheart I bought Willie Dixon’s book from her The book is called I am the blues
what a strange channel. to have put this out, and just stopped?
Somber and reflective on this, ribald on "Built for Comfort," scary on "I Got a Razor."
live 82 is the version from costello at RAH
omg this song just kills me, just... thank you, <3
Even Better than remembered !!!~Rare Treat/Thanks
That guitar need a littlw tune on
This is fine., but I the like the fastball more.
❤I met Memphis Slim , piano player with Willie , on the England 1963 tour , at rehearsals , my dad knew him , never met Willie Dixon sadly , this is great
Hey , my Mum & Dad toured with Memphis with Champion Jack Dupree around 70,71 in England. 🙏🙏🙏
This music speaks to the deepest depths of my soul.
Willie are the legends we need to follow. they made the pattern. There ain't nothing like the Blues!
Legend
What a genius song writer!!! Why don't we hear more about him?
I've loved this song...fallin' in love to this song, cried driving myself down a Southern highway to this beautiful song. Heard it first at 16...I'm 67 gorgeous years young....and I'm still loving this song. You just don't mess with perfection...do you hear that slide? Good Lord... please read my signs, be a gypsy, tell me what I hope to find deep within me, and because you can read my mind.... please be with me 🐦🌷
I hear you :) similar story for me at 62
@@GreenRoadFarm Smile. I've been loving my Allman Brothers Band since I was 16 years old. Sure, I follow, listen to other music....but you just can't improve on perfection 😉 Check out Gregg's last "Southern Blood". There's also a video on the making of "Southern Blood". It's good. The album....he gave everything he had left to this. It shows☺️
@@katelord6106 Thanks Kate, I’ll check them out 😊
Wow never thought he could sing like that. Very good. But I'm a Roy Orbison man all the way.
If you got a weak brain and a narrow mind The world gonna leave you way behind Your woman gonna quit you and, leave you cryin' You can't keep your woman 'cause you are watchin' mine If you got a strong brain and your mind is broad You gonna have more women than a train can hold You won't have to worry 'bout nothin' at all If you got a strong brain and your mind is broad The strong overpower the weak The smart overpower the strong And if you're gonna be my baby Only one way we can get along Cause if you got a strong brain and your mind is broad Ain't nothing in the world is gonna be too hard You'll be long gone when the others start If you got a strong brain and your mind is broad
_"Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, 'Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up.' Man bursts into tears. Says 'But, Doctor... I am Pagliacci.' Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum. Curtains."_ -Rorschach, _Watchmen #2: Absent Friends_ (1986)
The very song that should have been on the Watchman Original Soundtrack!
Yes it is.
acoustic guitar has always been my favorite, IMO electric doesn't compare, but that's just my opinion

THE ☆MOTHERS☆ ARE LOVE !
I can see an old house with a weathered porch and see a bunch of long haired cowboys sipping on a jug picking on flat tops in the shade of that old porch remembering a special lady. Dontcha see it to; close your eyes and listen. Hear that dobro, I'm smiling as I choke up. The music always helped me through another day.
Pink Floyd sound!!! ❤

This song is incorrect. With a weak brain and narrow mind, you can be a Republican President someday!
Fact
cette chanson est au moins dans le top ten des meilleures chansons 😀
He's just doing the stuff - great
A more restrained stripped down version, but I think the Roy Orbison version is still the best. Still, what a songwriter Mr McManus is.
A great photo of Duane.
Thanks for posting!!
We did two takes of this song [the differences are mimimal]. The only reason we did a second take is that our friend and producer, Johnny Sandlin, heard a few "clicks" [a microphone hitting the guitar or dobro, etc.] and those can't really be heard unless you mute everything else on the recording! The only real artistic difference is we may all be a little more comfortable with the song on the second take. There is a version somewhere that begins 10 seconds or so before we started the second take where you can hear Duane mention the "fastball." He's referring to the chord change to a "C9th" that comes in between verses, it was an unexpected, but, beautifully used change.
imagine how good goodbye cruel world could have been - listen to the solo versions of the deportees club, the great unknown, peace in our time, love field, the only flame in town, home truth and this song
His voice is so different and unique , he owns the song
You can hear his influence on Leonard Cohen.
I am a huge Roy Orbison fan, though when I heard this heartbreaking version of "The Comedians" it became my favorite version of the song.
version Roy is most better!
@@ZHenrique26 Most better indeedly! I like both.
Perfection
